Welcome:The Graduate Student Caucus is an affiliate of the Modern Language Association. The major function of the caucus is to advocate on behalf of graduate students in modern languages at the annual meeting of the MLA. We seek to raise awareness about current issues that graduate students face and hope to contribute to any of the decisions that are made on our behalf. On a more practical level, we want to help students stay informed about the various facets of academia.
As an affiliated group, we organize two panels each year at the MLA convention and hope to encourage graduate student involvement on all levels of participation at the annual meeting. This is a great opportunity for students to present their work at a major event, and/or -- as an executive board member of the caucus -- organize and chair a session at the convention. The MLA is the most important resource for graduate students, as it serves as professional representative on many academic and non-academic fronts. To stay informed about the events etc. of the caucus, follow the updates on this site, as well as our Facebook Group and Twitter. The caucus would like to encourage each graduate student in the modern languages to stay informed about the discussions about graduate studies and academia in general. If you have any questions or suggestions for the caucus, please make sure to contact any member of the executive board. |
